Buying a Computer Chair? Consider these Factors

by Paul Petersen

When sitting in a computer chair, the things must be in a horizontal position to the floor with the feet on the ground and arm levelled with the desk. Moreover, you should not experience back strain and you must be able to sit for a significant amount of time without feeling uncomfortable. A great computer chair must address all of this. If you are looking to buy a new computer chair, below are the things you must take into account:

Adjustable Seat Height

Whether or not you share your computer chair with other people, you need to have a chair with adjustable seat height. Some users of the chair may differ from you in height. Adjustable seat height will accommodate all the varying heights of people who will use the chair. The right height is when the user looks directly at the monitor.

Seat Width and Depth

The longer you sit in a computer chair, the more stressful your experience will be when it doesn’t have the proper width and depth which fits your physique. Invest in a chair with enough width and depth to support you comfortably. Make sure the depth is enough so you can sit with your back against the backrest for a computer chair. The back of your knees should be 2-4 inches away from the chair’s seat.

Lumbar Support

The lumbar is naturally arched inwards. If you sit too long in a chair without support, you may slouch in the lower back and strain your lumbar spine structures. Thus, invest in a chair that can support your lumbar. Giving your lower back proper support will help you sit in the chair for a long period of time without any discomfort.

Material

You will want to invest in a chair that is made from high-quality materials. However, the chair’s quality will depend on the need, length of usage, and purpose of the chair. If you will be sitting in it for a longer period, you will want to go for a cloth seat instead of leather. But, chairs made up of leather are easy to clean. Thus, before you purchase a computer chair, determine the fabric that best fits your needs.

Armrest

The importance of an armrest will depend on whether you move around more often or sit in a chair for a prolonged period. Your arms and shoulders must be relaxed while on the armrest. Remember that your elbows and lower arms must rest lightly on the armrest.
